| Lotus Place |
On May 3, 2006 we celebrated the official opening of Lotus Place. It was a celebration of seven years of determination and dialogue. Lotus Place is symbolic of the courage and resilience of people who were in church and state care. This includes institutions, foster care & detentions centres. It results from a continued dialogue between members of the Historical Abuse Network, successive Ministers and departmental staff since the Forde Inquiry. It also follows the commitments made by the Beattie Government in the apology to those harmed in Queensland institutions during their childhood.
